OK so I bought this new flooring – it’s actually a (eta – this is a link – look there —–>) MAT that looks like a barn floor/white-washed wood! I think I’m going to like it a lot! Here I used some fabric from IKEA (and used Downey wrinkle release spray to get the wrinkles out!) I tucked about 2 inches of the fabric under the rug, which has a rubber bottom so it seemed to grip it pretty well. Then I took a white board that came with some window blinds and put it so it looks like baseboard trim. It was an extra board they sent and I found it when I was cleaning out our utility room – score! I used clamps to hold it on – just clamped the fabric to the board.
here’s a close-up shot of it. btw…this is in my front room – mostly north-facing window. And the flooring is 46×66″.
And here is my cute little model, Grace! This was in happier times…she actually did NOT seem to like me much after a while! Poor thing! But good thing I shot so many happy ones in the very beginning! This just supports my theory again that most of the best shots are usually taken within the first 15-20 minutes of the session…ESPECIALLY when indoors! ![]()
more to come of Grace and her cute family!
p.s. for all the photogs out there that are interested, here are my camera settings & info for Grace’s photos =
Nikon D700, Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens, Manual, f-stop 2.2, ISO 250, shutter 1/160, auto white-balance. I shoot in sRGB and do pattern metering. Did a slight curves adjustment, cloned out her scratch & around nose, smoothed slightly, sharpened, then warmed it up slightly, then used Pioneer Woman’s “Fresh and Colorful” from set 1…tweaked down quite a bit.
