We started out “Phase I” of this process over two years ago with a mouth expander, then a quad-helix device to rotate the back molars. Then a retainer to hold everything in place for a year or so. Now on to Phase II – the braces! After all she’s been through, it was a breeze!It’s cool how they build the braces on the tooth mold – then they put the whole plastic unit on as one piece, glue in place, then remove the plastic. Claire was pretty excited she got to keep the mold!This was the hardest part – but they got a smaller mouth stretcher and it was better.  :-)Taking the plastic piece off after the braces were glued on.
Her first look at her new SMILE!  :-)I’ve never seen anyone so happy to get braces! To quote Claire, “I’m going to look HOT when I get these off!”  haha!Watching some instructional videos on how to care for teeth with braces.These were the three teeth she had to have pulled out two weeks ago in preparation for today.  eeek!!  Now THAT was a bad day!  :-( She took 1 permanent and her baby tooth and put them in a Build-a-Bear doll – haha!

btw I used the 8mm app on my ipod touch for the video!!  I used it on “70′s” and LOVE the dimension it adds to the slideshow.  I definitely want to do a lot more of that in the future!

This is my girl – taken Easter Sunday 4/24/11 around 5pm. I am *trying* to take more photos of my own family! :-)

tech info: Nikon D700, Nikon 85mm f/1.8 (yes, I really want the 1.4 – thanks a LOT Nichole! haha!), f-stop = 2.2, shutter = 1/1600, ISO 200. Used Florabella’s “amber” from the spring set I and “raw sugar” texture overlay from the texture set II using the texture application action too from set III (love it since it replaces the color tone where you erase the texture). 

What I love about the top photo is that the camera focused on her hair (I wasn’t using my focal points – just let it go where it wanted).  Of course the next frame was in focus, but there was something I really liked about this blurry one – sorta surreal.  Anyway, off to work!

What:  Claire was so cute this year for Christmas!  She cut out a photo of this shirt from the Kohl’s ad and gave it to her Grandma Hohenstern – telling her that is what she REALLY wanted for Christmas!  Sure enough, grandma came through.  She wore it like twice during break and HAD to wear it on the first day back at school!  :-)  Tech:  Nikon D200, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, ISO 160, shutter 1/160, f-stop – 6.3? (or 7.1 cuz I was really close to the light).  This is almost totally side-lit by my large alien bees octabox (w/ grid – and p.s. you can see it in her glasses on the left) on an alien bee B800.  Fired w/ pocket wizards (they rock btw!)  Shot directly on my gray-painted wall.  See this old post for the studio shot.

And she was bugging and bugging me to buy her these new shoes too.  I thought they were WAY too wild and she would never wear them, but she LOVES them!

 Anyway, I had her model it all for me today and thought I’d share.  Stuff here is from Rhonna’s parisian pack and the plain frame is hers as well.  The “me” and bird frame is from here.
