I found a new trick that I’m a little in love with right now – taking photos with my ipod touch and bringing them into the Instagram app to “edit” them. For these, I actually took most of them with my regular camera (Nikon D700), then when I had them up on my computer monitor, I took photos of them with my ipod touch and brought them into the Instagram app – I used “Early Bird” on all of these, then e-mailed them to myself. Slapped into a collage and done.  :-) Problem is, they are very VERY low-res, so they only look good pretty small and in a collage. I wish I knew a way to make them better resolution!  Anyway….

The middle photo though was a pic of our Christmas tree – taken with my current very favorite lens – the 35mm f/1.4G – on manual mode to make the lights blurry like that.  :-)Next we have our New Year’s Eve photos! We were getting ready to go across the street to our friend/neighbor’s house for a party, so I barely had any time to take these. uggh! (Scott rushed me out the door…) But I got what I could. Nikon D300, Tamron 17-55mm f/2.8 lens (at like ap of 16, iso 160, shutter 1/160), Alien Bee ring flash. I brought all these photos into Toy Camera Analog Color with the polaroid border and Process type 5.So yay!  I got the first two pages of our 2012 Memory book done!  :-)

While I was at it, I took some ipod touch photos of some of my fav images I took in 2011 of Jacob & Elle. Used “Nashville” and “Early Bird” filters from Instagram here.And tried something completely new on this image – hmm…not sure what I think, but I know Elle is beautiful no matter how I edit the photo!  :-) Have a great week! I start my 10 days in a row again at work tomorrow…boo hoo! Feel sorry for me?

For part of her birthday present, I told her I’d hire my friend and co-worker (and kick-butt photographer/makeup artist extraordinaire!) Karen! So we did it last night! It was really fun and I think Claire probably still has a smile on her face!

While the girls were doing hair & makeup, I took some of Claire’s old “M” magazines and taped them to the wall to use as a backdrop. Claire LOVES Justin Bieber, so she said to make sure to get a lot of him.  ;-)

What:  Claire was so cute this year for Christmas!  She cut out a photo of this shirt from the Kohl’s ad and gave it to her Grandma Hohenstern – telling her that is what she REALLY wanted for Christmas!  Sure enough, grandma came through.  She wore it like twice during break and HAD to wear it on the first day back at school!  :-)  Tech:  Nikon D200, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, ISO 160, shutter 1/160, f-stop – 6.3? (or 7.1 cuz I was really close to the light).  This is almost totally side-lit by my large alien bees octabox (w/ grid – and p.s. you can see it in her glasses on the left) on an alien bee B800.  Fired w/ pocket wizards (they rock btw!)  Shot directly on my gray-painted wall.  See this old post for the studio shot.

The puppies were ADORABLE!  They are a Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu mix – their mom called them “Teddy Bear” puppies.  They came all the way from WI (6 hr drive) for a party this weekend.  Since they were only 1 week old, the owners didn’t want to leave them behind – so they all made the trip over! 

Here’s proud mama – Kai – with her babies!  :-)  This is Kai’s first litter…she was very protective of them and needed to know where they were at all times!  :-) This shot was super hard to get!  They kept wanting to curl up into a big ball and tuck their heads into each other.  Jennie is so great at posing!  I loved assisting her!  :-) Claire and Jacy were in heaven!  awww!  It would be so fun to see what they look like in a few weeks!  Too bad they live so far away!  Thanks for having me over Jennie!  I’ll work with you any time I can!  :-)  

btw….I just want to say that this whole photography industry can be very competitive and catty.  It’s so nice to have someone like Jennie that is so NOT that way!  I really appreciate that about her (and many of my other photography friends!  You know who you are!  :-)   )

Backing up a little bit here…………when Jacob told us he had a girlfriend I of COURSE had to stalk her check her out on facebook!  I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found.  :-)   She is beautiful both inside and out!   One of the things I noticed right away is she has quotes with almost all of her photos — some she’s written herself (she also writes music!) and others she’s found along the way.  I think the quotes you like says a lot about your personality.  I asked her if I could put some of them with the photos I took of her and she agreed.   This was one of my favorites.  :-) Elle’s mom Jen told me that Elle just LOVES having her photo taken!  I told her mom that I just LOVE taking photos = a VERY dangerous combination!   haha!  But I’ll try to take it easy on her and not be a creeper.  ;-)   Jacob & Elle… Used that technique I talked about HERE a long time ago.  Anyway, thanks for letting me practice again on ya Elle!  You are quite amazing.  (i.e. I approve.  :-) )

(some serious stuff here…haha!)
