The puppies were ADORABLE!  They are a Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu mix – their mom called them “Teddy Bear” puppies.  They came all the way from WI (6 hr drive) for a party this weekend.  Since they were only 1 week old, the owners didn’t want to leave them behind – so they all made the trip over! 

Here’s proud mama – Kai – with her babies!  :-)  This is Kai’s first litter…she was very protective of them and needed to know where they were at all times!  :-) This shot was super hard to get!  They kept wanting to curl up into a big ball and tuck their heads into each other.  Jennie is so great at posing!  I loved assisting her!  :-) Claire and Jacy were in heaven!  awww!  It would be so fun to see what they look like in a few weeks!  Too bad they live so far away!  Thanks for having me over Jennie!  I’ll work with you any time I can!  :-)  

btw….I just want to say that this whole photography industry can be very competitive and catty.  It’s so nice to have someone like Jennie that is so NOT that way!  I really appreciate that about her (and many of my other photography friends!  You know who you are!  :-)   )

Claire feel head over heels in love with him!  She didn’t want to see him go home!  In fact, he inspired her to start up a pet-sitting business!  She even wants me to make her some business cards!  haha!  :-) Congratulations Angela!  He’s the sweetest thing ever!  :-)

Then some jokester put this critter in there.  I think it’s the new neighbor because Scott & Jon have pulled a few pranks on him…but it could be a number of different people….hmmm….no one is fessing up! 

He’s a cute little fella, huh?  So far we’ve gotten some yummy broccoli, some radishes, and a green bell pepper!  It’s looking good!  Nice job guys! Jon & Scott (used Sheye’s “pretty gritty” action here).

I had done a session w/ Liv, Greyson & Quinn and had left this red chair on my gray seamless. One day I came downstairs and Amber had made herself quite comfortable on my nice chair. I quickly turned on my light & camera and I got some AWESOME pics of her. But I really didn’t WANT her on the chair since she sheds like crazy, so I vacuumed it off and put some props on it so she couldn’t sit on it.

Then wouldn’t you know I accidentally DELETED all the pics! So I put the chair back to see if she’d sit there on her own again over the next few days and of course she wouldn’t. So Jacob had the idea to give her some catnip so she’d be a little more cooperative for pics. :-)

Catnip + Amber = these pics! haha!OK I’m a dork, but these just crack me up! Of course Buddy was VERY jealous that Amber was getting all the attention, so he got in on a couple pics too. :-) A few days later, Jacob found this tree frog outside – so so cute!

They came to the Hopkins studio last Sunday for some family photos!Love the fun summery citrus colors! So cute!Miss Peyton was just as sweet as could be!Jaxson was a little shy at first, but then he warmed up more. And did a pretty darn good job for being TWO! :-) Of course we can’t forget about Mickey! She’s a big part of the family so of course she had to come along for some photos too!

It’s funny because if you said “Nebraska” or “rollerblading” Mickey would cock her head and look at you so cutely! :-)
anyway, we went outside the studio quickly and got some shots against the wall. I think this is one of my favorites from the session! :-)

OK, so here’s the point where the GOOD photo shoot started to turn a little sour…eek!! hehe!

I honestly feel like I learn a lesson or two (or more!) with each session I do. Here’s some lessons I learned from last Sunday:

#1 – Don’t take a family w/ kids under the age of 6 to Lake Harriet…especially when it’s 85 degrees out and there is a live band playing at the band shell (i.e. NO PARKING!) We had to park 3 blocks away…

#2 – Don’t walk with a dog on the sidewalk behind the bandshell – because the dog MIGHT JUMP IN THE WATER – like she might jump off a 5 foot cement wall! (Hey, at least it wasn’t the kids!)

#3 – Bring poop baggies if a dog is coming along… :-)

Here’s a collage that kind of sums up our beach experience…haha! Wet dog, child crying (scared of being on the dock and scared of the water), frustrated parents, and another hot, tired child who just wants to be done with photos! :-)

but hey, it wasn’t all bad! Look how cute mom & dad are!

OK, back to lessons learned.

#4 – do NOT throw a rubber chicken at a 2-year old to try to get him to laugh/look my direction…haha!
