This is the first time I’ve done a newborn session where the older sibling was so young! Sweet little Ethan just turned ONE in late November – so they are only about 13 months apart in age!

He’s so cute! Love the big blue eyes!


This is Ethan’s way of giving loves = head knocks!

This one cracked me up! We went into Ethan’s room and he was playing on his bed with a toy I had brought. We took that away and put Ella there – love his expression! ;-)

Jayde is such a great big sister! and dad is so cute w/ his little girls. And it’s such a “guy thing” to put the finger in the mouth….had to get a pic of that! :-)

Emily’s sister Lindsey lives with them and is such a great help! It was so nice to have her help out with our session too! (Thanks Lindsey!) :-) Little Nora wasn’t into sleeping much for the first two hours of our session – so we grabbed some awake shots. Mom got this cute little outfit at “Oh Baby!” – LOVE the big flower! This one totally cracks me up! I have a feeling little Nora is going to have some GREAT expressions as she gets older! I love these baby swaddlers – I got this at Target and it works wonderfully! Yes, it kinda looks like a baby straight-jacket – haha!This one cracks me up too! I loved the curtains they had hanging up, so I asked if we could take one down for her to lay on – it worked great!
So while Emily/Lindsey/Noel were trying to feed Nora & get her to sleep, I took some shots of beautiful big sister Jayde! You may remember her from this post last year. LOVE her laugh – she must get that from mommy! :-) Jayde was just an angel for pictures! She was so cooperative and did whatever I asked her to do – like put on the hat I brought and look “serious” – LOVE this! :-) OK, smiley now. btw…..LOVE the converse! She had pink ones too!Mom bought this dress for Jayde and was so excited for her to wear it. But Jayde looked at it and said, “I don’t like beautiful things” and refused to wear it…but by the time our session happened, she was on board with wearing the beautiful dress. :-) into hour three, little Nora finally conked out….! :-) I was so excited to get this next shot. I have been trying the “heads up” pose as it’s called on the last 4+ newborns and nada! I can’t get it! What’s the secret? If someone knows, please e-mail me! :-) But we got a modified “heads up” in daddy’s hands. Awww….

Such a little sweetie! I got the hat from Pout boutique in Fargo and the flower is a pinned on one from J.Crew (crew cuts for kids). The blanket I got from a 2nd-hand store….vintage! :-)

I was so honored to be asked to do Boden’s newborn photos since I did Regan and Marin’s too!Isn’t he precious? This was one of my very favorite shots from our session. :-) and here’s my very favorite shot of all three kids (which believe me, was not easy! But I was thrilled to catch all three of them looking so cute!)And here’s the whole family! I took a couple of Regan & Marin – you might remember them from the 9/27 urban minis! and I LOVED the outfits Sarah chose both sessions! So adorable and unique! She has the BEST taste in clothing & decorating! ah, to have just 1/10th of that would be nice!!see? Look at this tie!?! Then daddy took the girls out shopping/for lunch so it was just Sarah, Boden & I. My strobes seemed to be keeping him awake (once all his clothes were off!) so we decided to move it upstairs to natural light!

ahhh, much better! For the photogs out there, I set up a card table in my front room (north-facing window), then put a bean bag chair on top of the card table, then put a boppy on top of the bean bag chair, then put the blanket(s) on top, then put the end of the blanket up w/ clamps on my backdrop stand. Here’s a photo from the studio, but it was the same set-up upstairs.

Settings were = Nikon D700, 50mm f/1.4 lens, manual mode, auto white balance, shutter 1/250, aperture = 2.0, pattern metering.And here’s the same photo, but this time I used Pioneer Woman’s “Fresh & colorful” action (tweaked down a little) + a warming action – oh, and Jeri – the blanket is from TJ Maxx. :-) (hat I bought from http://www.etsy.com/)
OK, I had to get a foot shot….I just love baby feet! :-) I wish I would have gotten more shots of him on the blanket, but he woke up!

so then we did some shots w/ mom. There was something I liked about this one – the look on her face. She’s so incredibly HAPPY (and so is dad!) to not only have THREE healthy and beautiful kids, but to also add a little boy to their family!
Isn’t she beautiful? She’s still got “the glow!” I REALLY wanted this shot outside w/ some cool fall leaves, but we were already going on FOUR hours for the shoot and dad & the girls were done w/ their errands….and it was really cold out….and they had to get back to DL….and Chris needed to fly out to AZ at 3am the next morning, so we did it indoors. Oh well! I still like it! :-)

She was born on a really COOL birthday – 07/08/09! She was c-section, so mom & dad picked the date! She was just as sweet as could be…but little missy did NOT want to sleep unless all swaddled up like this! (btw…paper from here – frame by andrea burns)

We started in mom & dad’s room…And we *tried* to include the dogs – Maya & Allie (sp?) This is Maya I believe…(the one NOT scared of the camera…!)Here’s the big happy family! Well, miss Hannah isn’t too happy here at the moment…! I teased Brendon that he’s pretty out-numbered by girls at the moment! But he doesn’t seem to mind. :-) I wanted to get another shot w/ both the dogs but Allie didn’t want to…oh well! :-) and a collage for their new family….this is one of my favorite shots from our session… :-) and this one. I added a Hassalblad border for dad – who is also a photographer! :-) border free from http://www.atncentral.com/I bought this doll bed at a second-hand store and have been wanting to try it w/ a little girl! And she did actually fall asleep for like 5 minutes! Just long enough to get it… we went inside and tried to get some more shots. Of course like I said, she slept well when all bundled up!but as soon as we tried to un-bundle her and get some other fun shots, she was wide awake!

mom & dad bought a cute tiny little diamond ring – I’ve never seen one so small! We tried some more shots outside – this time in the front yard. And I put together a quick announcement.(paper from the dressed in pink kit – from here)
and another one…flower paper in the background is from Heather – the Girly Girl kit – just lowered the opacity. The flower is a dingbat.
