Photos by Robin » families http://www.photosbyrobin.com/blog Blog Thu, 09 Sep 2010 03:19:49 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.9.2 en hourly 1 Grace & Olivia | Minneapolis Child and Family Photographer http://www.photosbyrobin.com/blog/grace-olivia-minneapolis-child-and-family-photographer/ http://www.photosbyrobin.com/blog/grace-olivia-minneapolis-child-and-family-photographer/#comments Mon, 30 Aug 2010 21:52:53 +0000 Robin http://www.photosbyrobin.com/blog/?p=2804 Grace, Olivia, Bill & Nichole made the long trek again this year – all the way from SD!  If you’ve followed my blog at all, I’m sure you’ll recognize this family.  I’ve been doing Grace’s photos ever since she was a newborn – and now she’s FOUR!  Man time flies!   Nichole wanted to start out in the studio and get some formal shots.  She has a certain frame she wanted to put a certain pose into – so I hope we got it for her!  Here’s a card design from a few years back – just to get more of a holiday look/idea for it.  (template from HERE)    I must say I’ve decided it is extremely difficult to work with 2yr olds/toddlers in the studio.  It’s a very confined space and I need them to be in a certain spot for the lighting to be just right.  Plus “my tricks” get really old after about the first 15 minutes, so this is about the only good shot I was able to get of miss Olivia!  :-) Yeah, and here’s my attempt to get both of them on the couch together.  haha!  Of course they had NO PROBLEM sitting on the couch when it wasn’t in the right position for a photo!  ;-) So we went outside….aaaahhhh, it’s like a breath of fresh air, isn’t it?  I must say that the non-posed, non-traditional stuff is much more my style.  :-)  

Poor Nichole suffers TERRIBLY from allergies though….which I sort of forgot about until we got outside into the long grass…..oops!   I hope you weren’t TOO miserable after our session Nichole!  :-)  

btw…..if this was my family, I’d print this huge on a canvas!  Just sayin’…. ;-) btw….for this shot I was “hiding” in the long yellow flower things and popped up like a jack-in-the box.  I was wearing a big frog googly-eyed head band and at one point had a big weed sticking out of it.  I told Bill sometimes I feel like the clown you hire for a kid’s birthday party.  haha!  Oh well!   ;-) I laid out this quilt & pillow and the lighting was just PERFECT!   Too bad they didn’t both want to lay together and smile sweetly…sigh!  Oh well!  Tried my best!  :-) Time for a walk.  They really seemed to like trying to stay on the beaten path.  :-)   btw….LOVE the curls!! Ring around the Rosie! Thanks for coming again guys!  It’s always great to see you and hope your weekend in the cities was FUN!   :-)

Aren’t they cute together?  LOVE the outfits here too!  Such fun color combos! Ethan’s so stinkin’ cute! and his sis is no slouch in the cuteness department either!  When we were taking these, some ladies walked by and were “oohing” and “aaahing” over her!  :-) {btw….her adorable outfit is from Matilda Jane – the headband is from etsy} I know this one is a little blurry, but I love it!  :-) awwww! Thanks for coming guys!  Your family is way cute!

And thanks again to the other families that came out too!  I really enjoyed these beach sessions!  It’s probably because of the “kick of your shoes and have FUN” sort of feel to them!  I’ll definitely be doing beach minis next summer again!  :-)

Tricia came in the pharmacy today and said she had a bad dream that her photos didn’t turn out – lol!  Yes, I’d say that was just a bad dream!  ;-)   Jacob was assisting me like I said in a previous post.  Here’s his view…..and mine… a shot by Jacob that I really liked for some reason.  :-) Kendall is gorgeous!  Love the cute missing front teeth too! and Connor is so handsome!  And I must say for a boy, he’s super super sweet and affectionate to his sister & family – and such a good listener for me!  Perfect! {I thought this series was cute!} awww, such a daddy’s girl! some mom & dad snuggle time! thanks so much for coming guys!  Always great to see you!

(btw….art here is a canvas painting by my daughter Claire!  I thought it would be fun to bring along and incorporate into some of the sessions!  I told her I’d pay her $5 for borrowing it….haha!) The only real guidance I gave my mini session attendees was NO WHITE SHIRTS WITH KHAKI’S/JEANS!  I really didn’t want that “uniform” look.  OK, could they BE any cuter?  Kudos for the outfit choices Kim – they were perfect! Aidan has always been in school for our other sessions so Kim wanted to make sure we got plenty of photos of just him!  No problem – he was a breeze!  And does he look like mom or what?  So cute! A brotherly moment…!  :-) At the end of the session Kim & Aaron let Anders go for it!  He’d been eyeing that water the whole session – haha!  These just make me laugh!  Plus he threw a little fit when they took him out, which made me laugh too!!  ;-) Thanks for coming guys!  You are all so cute together!

I love how mom dressed everyone!  Don’t they look great together!?  And she made her own necklace!  Alicia – I still think you should open up an etsy shop! Mom brought along these great pinwheels – the kids loved them!   (and me too!) Used Pioneer Woman “seventies” here. Then we drove down the road a little to a corn field. Dad was a professional photog in another life so he had some great suggestions for shots!  The one on the left was his idea.  I love the sun flare thru the tree!  :-) btw….ever since like 3 or 4 sessions ago, if you want to make Greyson laugh (and therefore the whole rest of the family since it’s contaigious!) just call him a “Ding-dong”!  It works like a charm!  haha!  Don’t they look like a bunch of ding-dongs?  They sure do!  ;-) OK I have a story about miss Liv.  If you look at the link I posted above from our last session, you’ll see a little squishy yellow guy.  She loved that thing so much so I bought her one of her own.  I of course gave it to her after our session (when she proved how GOOD she could be!)  She named it “Lily flower bumblebee cheese-foot” – haha!  What an original name huh?  :-) I gave Quinn a pink one that she named “Bubblegum” And Greyson hadn’t named his at the time mom sent the e-mail….haha!  :-) (notice here how Quinn took her headband and used it as a belt?  Clever girl!) Then we walked across the road for another fun location. Some mom & dad snuggle time – awww! Thanks for coming again guys!  It’s always great to see you all!  :-)

They were so much fun and I love how they styled themselves!  Well, OK, I love how Nichole dressed everyone!  I really like big Karge’s jeans and he made some comment about Nichole dressing him – haha!  Sounds very familiar!  ;-) Karge is quite the little funny man!  Love his little belly laugh and all his expressions! I tried to get him to act “serious” here – haha!  He did a great job! Some of those great expressions I was talking about….!  :-) OK, seriously, how CUTE are they?  I told them to “get their sexy on” and here’s the result!  hot hot!  :-) For being a photographer herself (and a dang kickbutt one at that!  If you have not checked out her work, you need to!), Nichole is very comfortable in front of the camera!   She should be – she’s gorgeous!  OK, and doing my celebrity-client match, does she not look quite a bit like a brunette Cameron Diaz?  Thanks for coming to my urban minis guys!  You’re the best!  :-)  (btw…a big thanks to Dave for letting me shoot in this cool location!  :-) )

LOVE his little outfits!  Way, way cute!  And his curls?  omg soooo cute!  Cory called it his “mullet” – haha!  crack me up! {One of my favs!} totally adorable! Molly is expecting their second child in January!  Is she’s not the cutest pregnant lady ever! ?
